Business Continuity Plan Design
When it comes to Business Continuity Plan design, it can be easy to get caught up in the details. Benjamin Franklin said “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”. When you undertake any project the Design Phase is key to ensuring your objectives are:
- Realistic
- Fit-for-purpose
- Achievable
Paul Kudray and Scott Baldwin discuss the Design stage of the Business Continuity Management Lifecycle:
- How to set a realistic strategic intention that is fit-for-purpose and achievable
- How designing your program can protect you from getting completely buried under complexity
I received the following question on this video:
- When you begin this phase, do you draft it then socialize it to gain support, or do you bring “the right people” in to add their voices first?
- I replied that you should first establish a Business Continuity Steering Group with a Business Continuity Champion from each department. I would present the strategy here first, then escalate it to Top Management for approval.
